IGNITION

Students ages 13+ with join this new, advanced program to develop and create their own show! Students will be the driving force behind all aspects of creation and performance, with teachers and experts to guide and encourage them! From creation, design, playwriting, music writing and adapting, to performance and even directing and technical aspects (lighting, sound), students can explore and learn about all of it!

2018's project was a country and rock musical adaptation of Shakespeare's "Love's Labours Lost", created by the students - including writing music and lyrics, and students played in the band! They had 2 performances in an Art Gallery and performance space in the 7th arrondissement: Pave d'Orsay. What will they come up with next year? We look forward to how this program can grow, and possibly submitting work to festivals and finding other opportunities for students to grow and express their creativity and talent!

Examples of past workshops include: Creating Character - how to build and imagine a character from "scratch", Shakespeare at Play - taking the intimidation factor out of the Bard's work, finding the fun! Adapting a story - how can you change or play with an existing story to find new perspectives or interest? Musical scoring - how does music affect mood or change a scene? How can we play with music to add to a production, film, play, etc?

SEE WEEKEND WORKSHOPS

Student in the Ignition Advanced program must understand and remember that they will have work to do at home and assignments between sessions (especially at the beginning of the creative process), and will help make sets and costumes.

There is also an opportunity for "work-study" with this group, by working as an "intern" with ACT to work off some of course costs - email the director for more information.
